Dad was the most curious and thoughtful person I have ever met. His interests extended from the nature of God to the nature of things he saw in the world around him. He was interested in how things worked. He was interested in people and their stories. And he was deeply passionate about his family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He worked very hard for years to bring together and share the stories of “us”. And in the story of us, he included extended communities of people who were family in spirit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The physical products of his passion for us were the two volumes of his memoir, Going Upstream<\/em>.<\/strong> But he didn’t stop there. He made a binder of family materials for each of his ten children, documenting them and their families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also made binders beginning with the one pictured here. It’s one of two devoted to The Family of Dave and Gerry Porter<\/em>. He also made similar exhaustive binders on the Porter, Byrne, Dodican, Sampson and other family branches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My hope is that Porterville.us will be a place where the materials in his work can be more available to all of you who are “us”, Porterville us. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
